Live It Loud. Choreograph Your Life!

Playing a game with 4 other bloggers (read till the end for details!) but first, let me address an important issue!!! I know this post is going to seem naggy but it’s a new year and we should set things right so here it goes! (Please read on if you care and love yourself)

Drugs. We all know that it’s illegal and harmful for us BUT we still know of people finding all ways to get it and do it. In Singapore, a conviction for trafficking of drugs (which means anyone carrying a certain amount of drugs such as more than 500 grams of cannabis, 30 grams of cocaine, or 15 grams of heroin) carries a mandatory death penalty. Yet, there are still people who are willing to take the risk by bringing it into Singapore to sell.

In this post I will share with you on Cannabis - a drug which has been abused by many.

Cannabis A.K.A Marijuana, Pot, Grass, Joints, Ganja, Hashish

I've heard SO many songs about "Smoking Marijuana" and I never understood why would celebrities want to "promote" smoking pot. Youngsters who listen and sing along to the music and would definitely be curious to know what Marijuana is. They would want to give it a try because their favorite musician is singing/rapping about it. All it takes is one first try and it is only a matter of time before they get addicted and risk their lives to pot as we all know that drug abusers find it hard to break the habit.

I know of people who do drugs, and most of the time, they start with Marijuana then slowly move on to deadlier drugs. Their lives are ruined because of drugs and it is almost impossible to talk them out of it. Friendships broken, hearts shattered. Most of them end up in jail and all they can do is REGRET. Why go through all of that when it can easily be avoided?

Not only will it affect your relationships with people and harm your body, it will make you look REALLY bad, just take a look at this image of Lindsay Lohan...

Here are more before and after pictures of drug abusers...

I got scared looking at the pictures! WHY WOULD THEY WANT TO DO THAT TO THEMSELVES :( They look so tired and their skin is a disaster!

In Singapore, drugs are not easily available, you don't have people offering to sell you drugs in the club. So, those people who actually do drugs, they really go all out to look for it. How stupid it is, to go look for something which will do nothing but Trouble.

What is Cannabis (Marijuana, Pot, Grass, Joints, Ganja, Hashish)?

Cannabis comes from the hemp plant. The plant is dried and compressed into blocks resembling dried herbs or tea.

Cannabis causes a person’s mind to become addicted.
It contains THC (tetrahydrocannabinol) which affect one’s mood, cause euphoria, anxiety, paranoia, increased heart rate and hunger. Cannabis can affect concentration and memory which weakens the abuser’s ability to learn.

So why is it bad?

Cannabis causes…..

- The inability to concentrate
- Slow reaction
- Distorted thinking and perception
- Poor balance and co-ordination
- Extreme anxiety, depression, confusion and paranoia (irrational fear or suspicion)
- Declination of motivation and drive in long-term users

There are SO many things which you can do if you're bored so why turn to something illegal and bad for you?

For me, whenever I'm bored, I'd go to the gym! Not only will my body look better, I also feel better after! ;)

I also enjoy dancing, if you don't know. I used to dance A LOT when i was younger. I did Reggae, Hip Hop, Ballet and Contemporary Dance for awhile. Really thought i was going to be a dancer last time cus i spent most of my secondary school life dancing. Even thought of going to L.A to pursue dance after i finished my Os. Sadly, i was not really financial able to do so and had to put that thought aside.

Till today, i still dance quite a bit though! Like watching KPOP dance tutorials on YouTube and learning dance moves. It's SO FUN!

Have always wanted to join DanceWorks (an annual dance competition) since i-don't-know when! I still watch the videos on the teams competing almost every year cus it's been a dream for me to join a dance competition. If only i had a team of dancers and the time.

Here are some of last year's DanceWorks contestants,

If you have a passion for dance, here's your chance to show off your moves!

DanceWorks!, the one and only local anti-drug dance competition jointly organised by the
National Council Against Drug Abuse (NCADA) and Central Narcotics Bureau (CNB) in
collaboration with Singapore Polytechnic, is celebrating its 15th anniversary from Feb to Apr
2013. Hundreds of dancers will be competing for the top spots in this mega event and bag almost
$60,000 worth of cash prizes in total.

In conjunction with the dance competition, the organisers will be conducting a series of contests
so that non-dancers can join in the hype too!
